Regina Edwards

Regina D. Edwards (Smoke) age 43, of Glen Rose, Arkansas was granted her angel wings on August 21, 2011 at UAMS Hospital in Little Rock. She was born in Hot Springs, AR, March 11th, 1968. She is the daughter of Mary Backus (Destin, FL) and the late Timothy J Backus (CA). Regina was a graduate of Magnet Cove High School class of 1986. Regina is survived by her husband of 26 years, Vincent Edwards and 3 children; Allen Dyer, Tyler Edwards and Blake Edwards of Glen Rose. Two sisters; Debbie (Jim) Slater of Magnet Cove and Margaret (Orville) Gibson of Hot Springs; in addition to numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. Regina was preceded in death by her Grandmother, Mrs. Dell Hughes, Aunt Patricia Smoke, Aunt Peggy and Uncle Bill Hulst of Magnet Cove and Aunt Eva & Uncle Doyle Thomas of Dallas, TX. Regina worked in the CVICU Unit at Baptist Medical Center in LR, and Hot Spring County Medical Center in Malvern. She had many accomplishments: Ark. Tech University, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (2010); Baptist Health School of Nursing, RN Degree (2003); Ouachita Technical College, School of Practical Nursing (1994). Prior to Regina's medical career, she earned a degree in Cosmetology which she continually used for family and friends. In 2007, she attended a medical mission in Honduras. Regina was also a Volunteer at Glen Rose School for shot clinics and athletic physicals, and she donated to the Summer Cereal Drive along with many other random acts of kindness. Funeral Services will be held at Atkinson Funeral Home Chapel at 11 a.m. Thursday with Dennis McClintic: officiating; Interment to follow at Francois Cemetery in Gifford. Visitation will be held, Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Atkinson Funeral Home Chapel. Pallbearers: J.C. Wilkinson, Joshua Robertson, Joshua Stevens, Dylan Scroggins, Brett Turner and Shane Tuggle. Honorary Pallbearers: Baptist Medical CVICU Doctors and Nursing Staff. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to: Baptist Medical Missions International, PO Box 30910 Little Rock, AR 72260. Designate to "Go In My Place" fund. Arrangements are entrusted to Atkinson Funeral Home of Malvern, Arkansas.
