Albert Price

Albert E. Price, 87, of Hot Springs Village, AR died on Sunday, May 16, 2010 at a local hospital. He was born on September 13, 1922 in Chicago, IL. Al loved Hot Springs Village where he lived for 25 years. He was an avid golfer and pool player (playing pool at home as well as at the Fiesta Bowl in a league for a number of years), as well as an accomplished musician. He was a Barbershop Quartet singer in Chicago and played the piano all of his life. He was always kind, optimistic, considerate, and friendly. He had a great smile and sense of humor with the rare ability to treat others the way he would like to be treated. He was mostly described as "the perfect gentleman". Al served in the US Army during WWII. He loved dancing, hiking, boating, and "working out" at the Village Natatorium. He was the retired Engineering Director of the Tank Car Division of GATX in Chicago and Masury, OH. He utilized his knowledge of engineering all of his life. He designed his own home in the Village and built many home decorations as well as fixed any needed small repairs over the years. He also designed the landscaping and outdoor lighting, and was especially proud of his Christmas outdoor and deck light display in the shape of a large Christmas tree which could be seen across the lake and for which they won second place in the Lake Cortez contest held that year. He was also a man of great faith who realized the power of prayer and who "practiced what he preached" with generosity and care. He was a wonderful father and grandfather and had a large family and extended family and friends who loved him very much. Al is survived by his wife of 8 years and 1 week Tomie Jo Price, his daughters: Judy Shields (Elvin) of Columbiana, OH, and Roberta Satriano (Tony) of Anna, TX, 3 step-children: Nadra Allen Prentiss, (Larry) of Hot Springs, AR, Steve Allen (Beth) of Hot Springs, AR and Mark Allen (Melissa) of Little Rock, AR, 9 grandchildren: Daniel Braun of Charlotte, NC who currently resides in Hong Kong with his wife, Roberta Braun of Charleston, SC, Dr. Ronald Braun of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and Amanda, Matthew, Naomi, Rachel, Hannah, and Rebecca Satriano, and 6 great grandchildren of Anna, TX, his sister: Peggy Panassow (Bill) of Dyer, IN, and 3 nephews: John Stevens, Russ (Chris) Morache and Tom (Carol) Morache. Al is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Lorraine Price, his parents: Albert and Grace Price, and his sister: Dee Stevens. Visitation will be on Thursday, May 20, 2010 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at CedarVale Funeral Home Chapel in Hot Springs Village, AR. Funeral Services will be on Friday, May 21, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at CedarVale Funeral Home with David Tappe officiating. Pall Bearers will be Dr. Elvin B. Shields, Dr. Ronald J. Braun, Marco Carnemolla, Fred Newman, Mark E. Allen, Steve Allen, Larry Prentiss, and Calvin Sloma. A luncheon will follow the service and Interment for all attending the funeral at the Village Church of Christ on Barcelona Ave. The family would like to express their appreciation and gratitude for the loving care given by the nurses and staff of St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital including Dr. Richard Widerski and Dr. Daniel Rowe, and the nurses and staff of the Arkansas Hospice Center including Dr. Martin Koehn. The family would also like to express their appreciation to Fountain Lake Nursing Home on Highway 7 for their caring and excellent service.
