Dorothy Buczak

Dorothy J Ochs Buczak, 93, died Sunday, October 11, 2009 at the home of her niece Anais Marotte Troadec, in Hot Springs Village, AR. Born August 12, 1916 to Gustav and Mary (McCraney) Ochs in Joliet, Illinois, she worked for over 25 years as a secretary to the Warden at Joliet Stateville Prison. Upon retirement in 1980 and following in the footsteps of her 2 sisters, Kathryn Ochs Omegna and Eileen Ochs Marotte, she and Jack bought a hone in the young Hot Springs Village. She enjoyed playing golf with the Duffers, worked with the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church Women's Guild and participated in the Republican Women's Club. She was a devoted "second mother" to her special nephew, Gary Omegna, who will sorely miss her. She is preceded in death by her Husband, John (Jack) Buczak and by all her siblings. 2 brothers, John Ochs and Leonard Ochs and her 3 sisters, Isabel Arnold of Lakeside, CA, Kathryn Omegna and Eileen Marotte, both formerly of Hot Springs Village. We will all recall her saying that she was the "last of the Mohicans." However, her kind brother-in-law, Ernie Marotte, 95, formerly of Hot Springs Village for 34 years, survives her in Colleyville/Grapevine, TX. She was the beloved aunt to her seven nieces and nephews and their families, George Arnold of Lakeside, CA, Richard and Geneva Arnold of Carson City, NV, Leonard Marotte of Wichita, KS, Anais Troadec of Hot Springs Village, Eileen Marotte Stone and George Stone of Milwaukee, WI, Jean Marotte Leitenberger and John Leitenberger of Colleyville, TX and Gary Omegna of Glendale, AR who attends First Step School. She also was the honored great-aunt of numerous grand nieces and nephews, among them Susan Arnold and Sharon Arnold of CA, Sela Arnold of NV, Melanie Marotte Gunter of OK, Jeffrey Marotte of Conway, AR, Michele Troadec Six of Paris, France, Jean-Marc Troadec of VT, Bryan Leitenberger of Chicago, IL and Justin Leitenberger of Portland, OR. She will always be remembered by her loving family, not only for her cheerful attitude and quick joke, but also for her wonderful Thanksgiving Dinners, both in Joliet and Hot Springs Village. A private Catholic service will be held in CedarVale Cemetery and a memorial Gathering for family and friends will take place in Hot Springs Village in the summer of 2010. Arrangements are by CedarVale Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to First Step Inc., Central Arkansas Home Care or to Hospice of Central AR, all in Hot Springs.
