Edward Theriault

Edward A. Theriault, age 71, of Hot Springs Village, AR passed away on Thursday November 04, 2010 at a local hospital. He battled congestive heart failure since 1999 but couldn't win the fight when he developed pneumonia. Ed was born in Chicago on July 5, 1939 to Alfred and Margaret (Bovine) Theriault. He grew up in the Chicagoland area with his parents and three brothers. The family moved several times but always stayed in the Windy City. Ed was a normal boy who loved adventure and sports. In high school he played baseball, basketball, and track. He had a strong sense of loyalty for family and friends, defending those he loved on numerous occasions. Ed spent two years at a seminary school in Niagara Falls, Canada, where he considered being a priest but soon discovered girls and changed his mind. He returned home and went to DePaul High School and worked hard to save money for his '57 Chevy Belair. Shortly after high school, he met and married Diane Pica. They had three beautiful children, John, Renee, and Eddy. He worked hard at being one of the youngest store managers for Eagle Food stores. He left that position and worked construction for a short time before joining the Wheeling Illinois Police Department. He worked there for twenty years. While he was there, he worked as a detective, a traffic reconstruction expert, and head of instruction for training the rookies. He wrote the book on how to mentor the new recruits which is still used today. He became president of the Police and Fire Board and fought hard to win the benefits and retirement packages that the present officers still profit from now. After marrying Linda Boller, he retired and they moved to the Gulf Coast of Mississippi where he worked in a casino. He worked first as a dealer and then a floor supervisor. He worked there until August 29, 2005, when the coast of Mississippi was savaged by Hurricane Katrina. Although their home survived, Ed and Linda decided to move to Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, in 2006, where he enjoyed all the Village has to offer, especially golf. He is survived by Linda, his wife of 17 years; his son John and his partner Paula Ball; his daughter Renee; his son Ed. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Amber, Justin, and Eddie. His brother Alfred and Al's wife Sharon still live in the Chicago area. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and long-time friends. A Memorial Service will be Sunday November 07, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. at Woodlands Presbyterian Church in Hot Springs Village, AR. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made memory of Edward Theriault to his beloved church, Woodlands Presbyterian Church, or the American Cancer Association.
