Emmie Wilson

Emmie Wilson, 101, of Malvern left her tired earthly body for eternal rest on March 29, 2009 at Malvern Nursing Home where she resided for the past two months. She was born on June 20, 1907 to the late Turner Hawthorne and Mittie York Hawthorne in Idabel, Oklalhoma. Emmie spent the early part of her life in Oklahoma and Texas . While in Texas she married Earnest Miller and they had one daughter and two sons. Her life in Texas was spent working on farms, hoeing crops, and picking cotton but she learned to be an excellent seamstress. Emmie used her talent to provide clothes for her family to wear. After the death of her first husband, Emmie brought her children to Malvern, to be near her sister, Viola Rogers. Here she met and married John Henry Wilson in 1942. They had one daughter. During her life in Malvern she loved working in her garden, flower beds, making hand pieced and hand quilted quilts and making many beautiful clothes for her family and many friends. She was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Malvern. She is survived by: 2 Daughters: Helen Miller Thomas of Grand Prairie , Texas Shirley Williams and her husband Burl of Malvern , Arkansas 8 Grandchildren: Brenda Hoosier and her husband Arla of Texas Sharon Roddy and her husband Ronnie of Texas Randy Thomas and his wife Grover Lee of Alabama Annette Hollomon and her husband Tracy of Glen Rose, AR Gary Williams and his wife Teresa of Bauxite, AR Larry Williams of Fountain Lake , AR Kenny Williams and his wife Angie of Malvern , AR Debbie Forsythe and her husband Jimmy of Point Cedar, AR 21 Great-Grandchildren 5 Great-Great-Grandchildren 1 Great-Great-Great-Grandchild She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 husbands, 2 sons, 1 grandchild, 5 brothers and 3 sisters Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2009 in Atkinson Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. John Owen and Jimmy Forsythe officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday Evening from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be her Grandsons and Great-Grandsons.
