George Green, M.D.

George Garret Green, 92, of Hot Springs Village died on Sunday, January 2, 2011. He was born on October 23, 1918. One of two children born to the late George M. Green and Alice Malvin Cuddeback Green, George was the beloved husband of W. Constance (Connie) Green for 67 years. Preceded in death by his sister Alice Carolyn Hench, George will be forever remembered by his children Patricia Ellen Metzger, Garret Williams Green, Constance Elizabeth Green and Carolyn Eleanor Green, as well as 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. George spent his youth in New Jersey and New York, graduating from Suffern High School with Letters in football, baseball and swimming. He loved playing cards, practical jokes, golf, boating, camping, hunting, ice skating, refinishing old family furniture, fishing and Rutgers football games. He delighted in telling old jokes to new audiences and never lost his sense of humor. George graduated from Rutgers University and New York Medical College. He was certified by the American Board of Radiology in Radiology and in Nuclear Medicine and was Licensed to Practice Medicine and Surgery and all its branches in the states of New York, New Jersey, West Virginia and Illinois. George served in the Medical Corps Army until 1947, attaining the rank of Captain. He was Attending in Radiology and Director in Nuclear Medicine in Neptune, NJ until 1962. He was an Associate Professor of Radiology, Director of Radiation Therapy and Nuclear Medicine at West Virginia University in Morgantown, WV until 1969. He was Attending in Radiology in Rock Island, IL until 1972, Consultant at the Rock Island Arsenal X-ray department and a member of Active Staff in Radiology in Rock Island, IL until 1986, when he retired. In 1993 Hot Springs Village, Arkansas became his well deserved retirement home. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, January 5th at the Good Samaritan Chapel, 121 Cortez Road, Hot Springs Village, AR 71909. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to IFOPA, PO Box 196217, Winter Springs, FL 32719 (www.ifopa.org) in honor of Sophia Forshtay, Dr. Green's granddaughter.
