Helen Rector Vincent

Helen Claire Rector Vincent, 100, of Hot Springs Village, AR passed away on Thursday November 10, 2010 at a local hospital. Helen was born March 17, 1910 in Parkersburg, West Virginia to Nelson Hoff and Mabel Pickens Rector and spent ninety two years of her life in West Virginia. Prior to entering Fountain Lake H & R in April, she resided with her daughter, Julia Ann Vangel, in Hot Springs Village. On December 25, 1929, she married Raymond John Vincent, who preceded her in death in 1973. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, John and Robert Rector, one sister, Enid Rector Duncan, and one great-grandson, PFC Glen Ray Booth, Jr. She is survived by three daughters, Deborah Jane Loomis of San Diego, CA; Julia Ann Vangel of Hot Springs Village, AR; Helen Claire Hathaway (Gary) of Huntsville, AL; one brother Richard Rector (Betty) of Parkersburg, WV. She was the cherished grandmother of six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. During her life she was a vital person in both family and her community. She was active in the Bridgeport United Methodist Church in Bridgeport, WV, serving as Director of Christian Education, Kitchen Coordinator and President of the United Methodist Women's Society. She was active in the DAR, a volunteer for a local hospital for twenty years, in the Village Pine Garden Club, a charter member and past President of the Bridgeport Women's Club, a member of the Governor Johnson's Garden Club, a past Brownie and Girl Scout leader and a party bridge player. She enjoyed her membership at Christ of the Hills United Methodist Church where friends and family helped her celebrate her 100th birthday. Helen enjoyed the love and fellowship of the community and her birthday wish was for all to be blessed with a life as joyful as hers. Visitation will be held at the Ford Funeral Home in Bridgeport, WV from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Sunday November 14, 2010. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday November 15, 2010 at Bridgeport United Methodist Church, Interment following at the Bridgeport Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in honor of Helen to either the Bridgeport UMC or Christ of the Hills UMC. A memorial service will be held in Hot Springs Village at Christ of the Hills at a future date. Arrangements under the direction of CedarVale Funeral Home 501-922-6100.
