Margaret Schank

Margaret "Meg" (Pratt) Schank, 84, of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, formerly of Silver Creek, died Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Fountain Lake Health and Rehab in Fountain Lake, AR. Meg was born April 19, 1925 in Forestville, New York; she was the daughter of the late Nahum Blackman and Lucy Loveridge Pratt. Meg graduated from Silver Creek High School in 1942 and Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri in 1944. Following college, she was employed at radio station WEBR in Buffalo, NY and as assistant manager of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra prior to her first marriage. Meg was active in the Silver Creek School Board, and was a NY Republican committeeman in Dunkirk for two years. She was a member of First United Presbyterian Church in Silver Creek and Tri County Country Club. Upon moving to Hot Springs Village, Arkansas in 1974, she joined the HSV United Methodist Church, the HSV Women's Club where she was a past president, and the HSV Women's 9-Hole Golf Assoc. She was active in the American Contract Bridge League, and the HSV Republican Women's Club. She was a 30 year member of the DAR, and a member of the Society of Mayflower Descendants. Meg is survived by her husband of 36 years, William Nicholas Schank, her son; Robert Wardell and wife Janet of Dunkirk, NY, one daughter; Jill Earsing and husband Scott of Silver Creek, NY, one brother; Charles Pratt of Mooresville, NC, grandsons Aaron Earsing of N. Evans, Joshua Earsing of Seattle, Sean Earsing of Huntersville, NC, and Robert Wardell Jr. and granddaughter Jaime Wardell both of Dunkirk, and one great-grandson. Meg was predeceased by her first husband, Robert Dambach in 1958, her daughter Judith (Wardell) Breeding in 2003, plus two sisters, Eleanor Libera and Emily Whitlock. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 12, 2010 at 1:00 PM at Christ Of The Hills United Methodist Church, with Dr. Walter Smith officiating. In lieu of flowers donations my be done in her honor to the American Cancer Society, or Derkson Memorial Hospice at 3648 N Hwy 7, suite E, Hot Springs Village, AR 71909.
