Mitchel Hodges

Mitchel Pilcher Hodges, 97, of the Midway community, went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 20, 2010. She was born on January 11, 1913, in the Antioch community to Walter and Mary Lou Eddie Pilcher. "Mama Hodges" was a true prayer warrior with an unwavering faith in God. She loved her family and friends, gardening, fishing and sewing. She was well known in the Midway community and surrounding areas for the baby dresses she made for over 50 years. Mitchel was a member of Antioch Assembly of God Church for most of her life and worked steadfastly in the church until her health failed. She was a wonderful lady, admired and loved by those who knew her. She touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents: her husband, Coy Hodges; five brothers, Ervin, Carmie, Archie, Dewey and "Buddy" Pilcher; two sisters, Pearl Pilcher and Grace Williams; a son, Kenneth Hodges; a son-in-law, Milton Beason, a granddaughter, Cheryl Hughes; a great-grandson, Jeremy Hill; two great-grandchildren, Shian and Tanner Hill. She is survived by one brother, Murl Pilcher; four sisters, Lucille Mills, Dorothy Grant (Haskell), Ruth Adney and Ina Wehenkel; four children, Arlie Hodges (Bonnie), Verla Beason, Gladys Selph (Bob), and Judy Burkhart (Rocky), one daughter-in-law, Sue Hodges Jackson (Elwin), 14 grandchildren, Nancy Hudson (Charles), Greg Hodges, Sandra Hill (Bud), Terry Beason (Brenda), Lewis Gene Beason (Debbie), Kelly Hodges (Vicki), Rhonda Richards (Randy), Kenny Hodges, Kathy Mattingly (David), Jerry Selph (Kathy Jo), Page Echols (Tonya), Dusty Echols (Melanie), Ryan Burkhart (Hannah) and Adam Burkhart; 30 great-grandchildren, Randy Hudson (Beverly), Steven Hudson (Freela), Hayden Hodges, Bryan Hill, Ricky Hill (Melody), Teresa McGhee, Daniel Beason (Rosa), Natalie Dailey, Lori Pennington (Bo), Chris Gray, Jeremy Gray, Christie Beason, Heather Brown (Chris), Michael Beason (Cynthia), Reed Hodges (Amanda), Beth Patrick (James), Danny Oden (Jamie), David Oden, Michael Richards (Susan), Alana Day (Stacy), Holly Burris (Jeff), Lance Mattingly (Brandi), Aaron Mattingly (Meredith), Sara Gardner (Jonathan), Andy Selph, Todd Selph (Angel), Mark Selph, Eli Echols, Collin Echols and Sadie Burkhart; 34 great-great-grandchildren, Alex Hudson, Jonathan Hudson, Audra Hudson, Savannah Hudson, Elizabeth Hill, Abby Hill, Kayla Hill, Chloe Hill, Schuyler Hill, Amy McGhee, Megan McGhee, Matthew McGhee, Jason Beason, Cynthia Beason, Sarah Dailey, Chris Dailey, Eric Dailey, Colton Babbett, Gaven Brown, Charley Brown, Lucas Oden, Elijah Ryals, Joshua Oden, Alexis Hodges, Tyler Hodges, Hanna Patrick, Hayden Patrick, Jake Day, Jared Day, Corbin Etris, Cameron Mattingly, Makayla Gardner, Ethan Mattingly, Julia Selph, and 6 more on the way; 1 great-great-great-grandchild, Lily McGhee; numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 22, 2010, from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. at Atkinson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 at Antioch Assembly of God Church with David Jeffers and Roger Walls officiating. Pallbearers will be the grandsons and honorary pallbearers will be the granddaughters. Burial will be in the Neighbors Cemetery in Midway. Memorials may be sent to Antioch Assembly of God Church.
