Richard Jolliff

Richard Joseph Jolliff, age 74, of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2008. He was born June 22, 1934, the son of Louis and Frances Flynn Jolliff in Yakima Washington. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Alma (Volkert) Jolliff also of Hot Springs Village; daughter, Diane Marie Arthur (Gary) of St. Charles, MO; son, David Patrick Jolliff (Debe) of Hot Springs Village, AR; three granddaughters, Elizabeth and Lauren Arthur of St. Charles, MO, and Becky Jolliff of Wentzville, MO; a grandson, Daniel Jolliff of Lake St. Louis, MO; brothers, Patrick of Champaign, IL, Wally of Sunnyvale, CA; a sister, Kathy Brogden of Mililani Town, HA; sisters-in-law, Marie (Ernie) Winters of Hot Springs Village, AR, Mildred (Craig) Hudson of Overland, MO. Many nieces and nephews will also miss him. He is predeceased by his parents. Dick graduated from Champaign, IL High School in 1952 and attended the University of Illinois. He was an avid Fighting Illini fan and loyal St. Louis Cardinal fan. Dick and Alma moved from Florissant, MO to the Village in May 1994. Dick had just retired from McDonnell Douglas Corporation (Boeing) after 27 ' years service. He realized his dream of retirement by living on a golf course and playing golf year round. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Men's Club. He was a good bowler for many years, both in St. Louis and here in the Village. He loved to travel, loved reading about history, especially World War II. He mostly loved playing golf with his "special four-somes" as well as the Men's 9 Hole Golf Association. But his dearest dream was to play endless golf with his son Dave, who retired here in August 2007. They were going to golf, golf, and golf!!! Unfortunately, that dream will not be fulfilled in reality, but in spirit, he will be "teeing" it up just as they had planned. Funeral mass of Christian burial is scheduled for 9:00 A.M. Monday, July 7, 2008 at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church with Father Victor Bieberle officiating. A rosary will be held Sunday evening from 5:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. Entombment will be in CedarVale Mausoleum.
